Another 501(c)3 not-for-profit organization, Pacific Pups Dog Rescue in Los Angeles rescues both dogs and cats from around the LA area. Offering a large selection of dog breeds of all ages, shapes, and sizes, if you’re looking for a specific breed, there is a good chance that you might be able to find it here. To date, Pacific Pups Dog Rescue in Los Angeles has saved as many as 429 dogs since they first opened their doors, and as many as 405 of those dogs have found their forever homes.
To begin the adoption process, you’ll need to complete and submit an application. The adopter can take home a rescue dog for a week's trial period. The staff will review your application, and once it’s approved, a home inspection will be conducted before the process if finalized. Also a 501(c)(3) non-profit, Forte Animal Dog Rescue was established in 2003. The owners of the foundation are committed to rehabilitating dog breeds of all types and ages and providing them with an opportunity to find a forever home. The organization works with both shelters and the LA community at large to find dogs to rescue. All of the animals they bring in receive proper veterinary care, including medication, vaccinations, and any other treatments that they may require before they are given to their new pet parents.
Since they were established Forte Animal Rescue has saved more than 1,500 dogs. If you’d like to adopt a pet, you’ll need to complete a questionnaire and a volunteer will then make arrangements for you to meet the dogs. A home safety check will be completed before the dog is released to you.

Dogs Without Borders, non profit 501-c-3 organization, is unique in that they are dedicated to small breeds. They take rescues from shelters throughout the LA area, then rehabilitate and rehome them. Since their establishment, they have successfully rescued more than 6,000 dogs and placed them in their forever homes. Dogs Without Borders offers an assortment of dogs of all ages. Dogs Without Borders offers a Trial Adoption, which lasts about a week, during which time a volunteer will visit your home to determine if you and the pup are a good fit. One of the oldest rescues in LA, Best Friends Animal Society has been recusing and re-homing dogs and cats since 1984. In fact, they are credited with playing a significant role in making LA a no-kill city for pets. Best Friends Animal Society takes in animals from rescues throughout the LA area. Founded in 2011, Wags and Walks is a non-profit dog rescue that services the Los Angeles area. It was founded by Lesley Brog who decided to take action after learning about the large number of dogs that were euthanized in LA shelters.
